After over two and a half years of blogging under marketingdriven.com at Blogger, I have decided that I needed to turn over a new leaf, get a breath of fresh air and refocus on what marketing means to me and to so many others. Also, I just wanted to sex up the blog with the features that typepad offers.

I'll be dealing with some of the usual suspects while digesting marketing both good and bad, and sharing marketing experiences that make my case even more real. There will be a cast of characters from Mrs. marketingdriven.com, my supportive wife (also a salesperson extraordinaire) who doesn't fully understand blogs but would rather have me going to the blogs than to the dogs by tearing off down the road in a red sports car with some blonde snuggled next to me. To those who have followed my blog in the past will remember that my wife is also known as She Who Must Be Obeyed----truly a term of endearment I have commandeered from the famous Rumpole of the Bailey books by John Mortimer.

And then there's marketingdriven.com jr. a wise soon-to-be 8 year old who brings marketing home to me in so many ways with his questions about why things are. Finally, I am always amazed at how marketing manifests itself in our culture from the person who sold his forehead on Ebay for a month's of advertising for thousands of dollars to the more mundane and traditional....all grist for the mill.

Why Marketing Is About Teaching

I have just completed reading essays from my graduate students and can only say that they teach me as much as I teach them. I only show the way, they take the journey. And it brings me to the point that marketing is about teaching because so many have little to no understanding of how important it is in everything that we do. I thank my students for their growing awareness that center me and for Harry Beckwith, whose book, Selling The Invisible, I have used for the past four years as my only text and which inspires them to understand marketing and use it in their personal and professional lives.

More on that when my new blog in online----I know I've said it for a while but I am assured it's going to be ready "in a few days." So it goes.
